Our Work
The COVID-19 pandemic has put the spotlight on need for speed in virus testing. A vital workhorse in this has been the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technique. We are working to improve the speed and accuracy of PCR to enable a faster, cheaper point-of-contact COVID-19 testing system.
We are using light for in vitro and in vivo imaging in ways that can help detect cancer, guide surgical and diagnostic procedures and reduce adverse events during surgery
In addition to more rapid identification of new viruses, we are exploring cellular particles (extracellular vesicles) that travel around the body such as exosomes, for earlier, less invasive clues about cancer, neurodegeneration, or cardiovascular disease.
